Sterlite Copper and Kamaraj College conduct State Level Seminar on ‘Enabling Employment for Youth’.

Thoothukudi, July 22: Sterlite Copper and Kamaraj College conducted a State level Seminar on ‘Education, Empowerment & Employability’ on 22.07.2017 at Kamaraj College.

The objective of the seminar is to orient and sensitise the students on the need for the employability skills along with academic mandate. Around 460 students from various Arts & Science colleges of Thoothukudi District participated in the seminar.

The seminar was inaugurated by Dr D Nagarajan, Principle, Kamaraj College in the presence of D Dhanavel, AVP – HSE, Commercial & Marketing, Sterlite Copper & Dr G Kasirajan, Coordinator, Career Guidance and Placement cell, Kamaraj College. Seminar benefitting youth across Thoothukudi was coordinated by Prof T Karpagavalli, Asst. Professor of English, Kamaraj College & Team.

During the session, Mr D Dhanavel led the session on ‘Igniting the potential of youth’ and encouraged the youngsters to prepare themselves in line with existing needs of the industries and job market. Mr N Ramakrishnan, Associate Manager – HR, Sterlite Copper elucidated the policy of recruitment of Sterlite Copper and emphasised the fact that 68% of its employees hailing from Tamil Nadu working in the industry have been contributing phenomenally to the growth of Copper business.

In the recent placement drive held at VOC College, Sterlite Copper recruited 23 bright students across Thoothukudi district for employment. Further, Sterlite Copper is planning for entering into MOU’s with colleges of the District for fostering students skill sets for placement through Industry – Institute partnership. This year, Sterlite Copper signed MOU with VOC College for building the skill sets of students in the college.
