Sterlite Copper Bags CII Green Manufacturing Unit Award

Thoothukudi, Dec 1:Sterlite Copper has bagged CII Green Manufacturing Unit Award in “8th National Cluster Summit” held at CII, Delhi.

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has organized the 8th National Cluster Summit with the theme “Build SME Competitiveness: Invest in Clusters” between Nov 23 and Nov 24, 2015 in New Delhi. This summit was aimed to create a multi stakeholder platform to promote discussions and learn best practices with plenary sessions and panel discussions on SME mentoring, manufacturing excellence, energy conservation through automation and technology and to show case their best practices as case studies and kaizens. Total employee engagement, green manufacturing, energy, cost, quality, productivity and 5S are the various category options for the industries to show case their industry best practices.

The summit was addressed by Dr. Anup K Pujari, Secretary, Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises, Govt. of India. 23 teams from leading manufacturing companies have participated in case study championship award. A team from Sterlite Copper presented a case study about Secured Land Fill (SLF). After screening of all the case studies, a team from Sterlite Copper bagged the award under Green Manufacturing Category.

Sterlite Copper Officials Mr Vujji Jagadeesh, Associate Manager – Environment and Mr Sreenath Sundaram, Manager – Sulphuric Acid Plant received this prestigious award from Dr SS Gupta, Senior Development Officer, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotions, Govt. of India in a function organized at Delhi.
