Sterlite Copper celebrated Vinayaka Chathurthi with community

  • Vinayaka Chathurthi celebrations by Sterlite Copper received tremendous response from 21 core villages with an overwhelming participation of women in various cultural activities.

Thoothukudi, 5th September, 2019: Sterlite Copper celebrated a week long Ganesh Chaturthi festival at Tamira -1 premises from 30th August, 2019 to 5th September, 2019. An idol of lord Ganesha was installed on 30th August. Daily Rituals were also performed on mornings and evenings. The idol was immersed in the sea and the rituals were completed on August 5th.

The company organised a day long engagement activity on 31st August, which exhibited the talents of various women from 21 core villages in different creative games and events, as part of the Chaturthi celebrations.

Women from the villages Therkusilukan patti, Sorispuram, Vadaku silukan patti , Muthusamypuram, Madathupatti, Rajavinkovil, Therku veerapandiapuram, Kumarettiyapuram, Kayalurani / Kumaragiri, Nainarpuram, Sillanatham, Samynatham, Meelavitan, Silverpuram, Madathur, Ayyandaipu, Pandarampatti, Sankaraperi, Puthurpandiapuram, participated enthusiastically in all activities and enjoyed the opportunity to exhibit their skills and talent. All the participants were also encouraged with numerous rewards.

Dr. Mercy Rodriga, Gynaecologist and Obstetrician from Tuticorin Government Hospital and Ms. Jayshree Shankar, Managing director of the Charitable Foundation, V.A.S Trust presided over as the Chief Guest of the event. Senior members of Sterlite Copper were also present for the event.

The company also contributed for the celebrations in various Lord Ganesha temples and villages which included Rajavin Kovil, Kailasapuram, Madathupatti, Sorispuram etc. There was an overwhelming response from the villagers and the employees.

Ms. Kannia Parameshwari, a resident of Sankaraperi said “The celebrations were filled with laughter, cheering, enthusiasm and a sense of unity. By the end of the celebrations, we were taking away a lot of memories and newly formed bonds, back to our homes. We look forward to many more such events and activities by Sterlite Copper”.
