Thoothukudi, Nov 28:42,585 food packets were distributed to the affected community in and around Tuticorin. Due to the heavy rainfall in Tuticorin District, all the odais, lakes and ponds were overflowing. Tuticorin city was flooded due to overflow of water from neighborhood water bodies.
Sterlite Copper is working with the local administration in extending its helping hand for relief measures to the affected community around its operations by distributing food packets, offering medical assistance, dewatering pump and providing sand / gravel to shore up bunds of neighborhood water bodies.
The food packets were distributed between November 23, 2015 and November 27, 2015 to Ayyan Adaipu, Kumaragiri, Korampallam, Anthoniyarpuram, Soorispuram, Madhavan Nagar, Kurinji Nagar, Magilchipuram, Dhasekaran Nagar, Aathiparasakthi Nagar, Cruzpuram, Muthaiyapuram, Thermal Nagar, Mudukadu, Servakaran Thattu, Nehruji Nagar, Kakanji Nagar, Nesamani Nagar, Swamiji Nagar, Saweriarpuram and Labour Colony.
Sterlite Copper employees have voluntarily come forward for extending support by distributing food packets to the flood affected areas.
