Tuticorin, June 5, 2015:Sterlite Copper, a unit of Vedanta Limited observed the World Environment Day on 5th June, 2015. Mr P Ramnath, Chief Executive Officer of Sterlite Copper inaugurated the World Environment Day Celebration at Sterlite Copper by hoisting the flag. Sterlite Copper employees took environment pledge for the protection of the environment. Mr P Ramnath initiated the campaign with plantation inside Sterlite Copper. More than 100 trees were planted inside its Thermal Power Plant complex. New employees joined in the Vedanta family have shown great enthusiasm in participating in the world environment day plantation campaign. Employees are communicated with the message “Consume with Care” for reminding their responsibility towards environment and on consumption of resources.

In the drive to green the city Tuticorin, Mr Gunasekaran, AEE – TNPCB, Thoothukudi and Ms Jeya Bharathi, Chairman – West Zone, Thoothukudi Corporation inaugurated tree plantation drive at Millerpuram and Dr Shanthi and Dr Muthualagu, Medical Officers of ESI Hospital, Thoothukudi inaugurated tree plantation drive at ESI Hospital. More than 100 trees were planted with tree guard at Millerpuram and ESI Hospital, Thoothukudi. The community initiatives were well received by the inhabitants and so the community requested Sterlite Copper to drive many such campaigns.
