Sterlite Copper’s Inter-School Competition for Girl Children.

Tuticorin, Feb 13: Sterlite Copper organised an inter-school competition for girl children in Thoothukudi district at RC Primary School, T.Saveriarpuram on Saturday. Mr M Kumaravendhan, Head – Safety & Environment, Sterlite Copper, Sterlite Copper inaugurated the programme in the presence of T. Saveriarpuram Parish Priest Rev. Fr. George Oliban.

Sterlite Copper in association with Humana People to People India conducted the inter-school competition called ‘TALENT HUNT’, where nearly 2100 children from 78 different schools participated in the competition. Events such as Running Race, Rabbit Race, Story Telling, Memory Game, Spell a Word, Reciting Thirukural and Quiz competition were organised. The purpose of these events was to provide a platform for the girl children to showcase their hidden talents.

The event was conducted as a part of Sterlite Ilam Mottukal Project launched by Sterlite with an objective to ensure that every girl child is provided with quality school education to realise their fullest potential. For the project, Sterlite Copper is supporting the education of 7852 girl children from 81 Government schools in Tuticorin. Additional academic, material and moral support for the children are the key components of the programme.

The valedictory program was presided over by Mr P Divakaran, Head Operations & Engineering Services, Sterlite Copper. The chief guest Mr Nagarajan, Thoothukudi District Elementary Educational Officer distributed the prizes to the winners of various competition of Talent Hunt. During his chief guest address, he listed out the various initiatives being carried out by Sterlite Copper for the benefit of students in Thoothukudi.

Dr R Kailasam, Head CSR & Chief Medical Officer, Sterlite Copper, Mr M Esakkiappan, Head Public Relations, Sterlite Copper, Mr Elmer, Head – Educational Sector, Humana People to People India, Community Elites and School Management were present for the program.
