Sterlite Pearl City Trophy 2016 – 2nd All India Basketball Tournament for Men & Women

Thoothukudi, June 04: Sterlite Copper in association with Youngsters Basketball Club is organizing ‘Sterlite Pearl City Trophy 2016 (2nd All India Level Basketball Tournament for Men & Women)’ between June 03, 2016 and June 07, 2016. Twelve leading teams across India are participating in this tournament.

The tournament was inaugurated by Dr P Arun Sakthi Kumar IPS, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Thoothukudi in the presence of Capt. Sonica Muraleedharan, Head – Human Resources, Sterlite Copper and Ms S Revathi, Managing Director, Jay Kay & Sons today at SAV School Ground (Opp. to Old Bus Stand), Thoothukudi on June 03, 2016.

Mr D Dhanavel, Head Commercial, Sterlite Copper, Mr P Divakaran, Head Operations & Engg. Services, Mr L Theerthose, Thoothukudi District Sports Officer and Youngsters Basketball Club President Mr Sujesh Raja were present during the occasion.

In men category, ONGC, Uttarakhand, DLW, Varanasi, Kerala State Electricity Board, Income Tax, Chennai and NFR, Assam are participating in the tournament. Under women category, Southern Railway, Chennai, South Central Railway, Chhattisgarh, Central Railway, Mumbai, Eastern Railway, West Bengal and Kerala State Police team are participating in the tournament.

First match was played between DLW (Diesel Locomotive Works), Varanasi and Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB). KSEB won the match by the points of 73-53.
