Valediction and Prize Distribution of Sterlite Trophy 2015 – Tamil Nadu Junior State Ranking Badminton Tournament

Tuticorin, June 7, 2015: Sterlite Copper, a unit of Vedanta Limited in association with Tamil Nadu Badminton Association (TNBA) & Tuticorin Gymkhana Club organized “Sterlite Trophy 2015 – Tamil Nadu Junior State Ranking Badminton Tournament” at Gymkhana Club, Thoothukudi between June 4-7, 2015. The prizes and medals were distributed to the winners today at Gymkhana Club, Thoothukudi.

Totally 628 players were participated in this tournament across the state (Tamil Nadu) and they were divided into nine categories, which are Men (Singles & Doubles) and Women (Singles & Doubles) in U17 Category and Men (Singles & Doubles), Women (Singles & Doubles) and Mixed Doubles in U19 Category. The matches were conducted at Shuttle Courts of Gymkhana Club, Thoothukudi, VOC College, Thoothukudi and SDAT, Thoothukudi. Finally, 14 players won the title under nine categories, 14 players bagged final match runner up and 28 players bagged semi-final match runner up.

The prizes were distributed by Mr Ashwin M Kotnis, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Thoothukudi District in the presence of Mr Pankaj Kumar, Chief Operating Officer, Sterlite Copper, Thoothukudi. Mr P Divakaran, Head – Operations & Engineering Services, Sterlite Copper, Mr P Mohan Kumar, Vice President, TNBA, Mr K Xavier Jothi Sargunam, DSO – SDAT, Thoothukudi, Mr T Velsankar, President – Thoothukudi District Badminton Association (TDBA), Mr Prem Vetri, Chairperson – Tamil Nadu Junior State Ranking Badminton Tournament and Officials of TNBA, Tuticorin Gymkhana Club & Thoothukudi District Badminton Association were also present during this occasion.
